  • HSFM Proudly Salutes the Bears of Bluebonnet Elementary School here in Flower Mound!

    10/16/2011 12:00:00 AM

Bluebonnet Elementary presenting donationOn Saturday, October 8, members of the Student Council at Bluebonnet Elementary came to PetsMart and donated over $460 to HSFM.

This money was raised through one of Bluebonnet’s “Pay It Forward” Events in which the focus is on a charity or a need in the community or the world. The Student Council decides on something that they believe Bluebonnet Bears would love to support and help, and then matches it with something “fun” in the fundraising. Most recently, they held the “PJ’s for Pets” day where all money went to the HSFM. In addition to the one day donation event, nine students held a Lemonade/Snack stand in their neighborhood and those proceeds were include in the donation. Talk about a bunch of GREAT Kids with Character! Definitely TWO PAWS UP for Bluebonnet Elementary School!

  • FM Chamber Stops Puppy Auction at Fiesta Fundraiser

    10/14/2011 12:00:00 AM

Update: 10.14.2011, 4:14pm  - Great news!  HSFM just received the following from the FM Chamber, and we are so pleased they decided to not include a puppy in their auction.  We wish them much success with their Fiesta fundraiser and thank them for considering the animals!  We look forward to having a continued dialog with our business community leaders about the efforts of rescue and how auctions can have such a negative impact on animals.

We also urge residents of Flower Mound and residents of Grapevine to call and write their elected officials on the Town Council and request that their respective cities adopt an ordinance similar to the one passed by Lewisville, found at http://library.municode.com/index.aspx?clientid=19957 (Section 3.8).

    --

The Flower Mound Chamber would like to thank the citizens for their concern about the puppy we have for our event. The Chamber would never be a part of putting a puppy in harms way. This puppy has been removed from the auction and adopted by our Chairman of the Board. He and his wife are dog lovers and have a rescue dog in their home to be a companion for this little guy. The Flower Mound Chamber is a responsible partner to the community and to its members and we appreciate and share being supportive of taking proper care of our pets.
