The Humane Society of Flower Mound is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting a respectful, responsible, and compassionate relationship between animals and people. We work to help animals in need in Flower Mound and the Denton County area.
Tuxes & Tails is Coming!
Our annual gala has grown each year, and we can't wait for Tuxes & Tails 2013! This year's event will be held at Tour 18 Golf Club on September 14th at 7:00pm. Save the date, and tickets will go on sale soon. This event is a rare chance to meet some HSFM volunteers when they are not covered in fur.
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we need help to make it a smash! We need sponsors and silent auction item donations. If you want to know more, email TuxesandTails@hsfm.org.
Enter Your Pet - Cutest Pet Photo Contest
The Cutest Pet Photo Contest has started and there are already some great entries! Go to https://www.360photocontest.com/198 to enter your pet! For those of you who have already entered the contest, remember to send the link out to your family and friends and have them vote for your pet. Your pet could be featured on the cover of HSFM's 2014 calendar!
Aside from being featured in the calendar, the top four fundraising winners will win a photo session with Jenny Froh Photography.
HSFM is working on a new and fun fundraiser for the animals! It's a great opportunity for guests to bid on cool items for a few quarters and an awesome chance for vendors to meet new prospects. Join us on July 18th from 5:30-9:30pm at the Wellington Athletic Center. We still need more vendors (Lia Sophia, Tupperware, Origami Owl, Mary Kay, My Thirty One, Country Gourmet, Scentsy, etc.) to participate. Please contact Tracy at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.

Tornados in Oklahoma
To read our press release about HSFM's efforts in assisting pets affected by the tornados, please click here.
We know everyone is anxious to assist with the tragic events today in Oklahoma. We are waiting to hear which agencies will take the lead in animal rescue efforts and will pass along that information and what their needs are as soon as we have it. Please note that "supplies" are usually not useful and often hinder efforts so we will hold off on collecting donated items until and unless we hear that something specific is needed.
In nearly all disasters, the two main needs are financial donations and space to hold strays while they try to reunite them with their families. HSFM has committed to taking 10-14 puppies at this time from Central Oklahoma Humane Society in OKC, who took in over 30 stray dogs Monday night alone. These dogs will be available for adoption or transported to our partners at Helping Hounds Dog Rescue over the coming weeks through our Love On Wheels program.
We can only help as many dogs as we have fosters for. Every spot we open up there could be space for a dog whose family is looking for him or her! If you want to help in that effort, please download and complete the foster form and indemnity release and email them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can start the approval process. YOUR OWN ANIMALS MUST BE UP-TO-DATE ON VACCINATIONS IN ORDER TO FOSTER. Please be sure to include the name and number of the veterinarian who can confirm your pets' vaccination history.
These dogs have been temperament tested, are dog friendly, not pit bulls, and not senior dogs. Most will be puppies from 8 weeks to 4-5 months. If you can open your home to one of these dogs for approximately 3-4 weeks, please email us at email@example.com as soon as possible. We will be headed to OKC Wednesday morning to pick up dogs and will need foster homes committed before we leave.
Our thoughts are with our neighbors to the north as well as our friends Bob Deeds and Vickie Taylor, who have deployed with their search dogs to OKC. Please stay safe everyone, and get those disaster kits (http://www.redcross.org/prepare/location/home-family/pets) ready. Storm season isn't over.
