Caring For Your Pet

Humane Society of Flower Mound has compiled several resources to provide pet guardians with resources and information to help your relationship with your pet be the best possible.

If you have adopted a pet from Humane Society of Flower Mound and you need assistance, please call or email us.

Please note that we are providing this as a resource only, and does not replace proper veterinary care or professional training.

If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency and you are in Denton County, please contact Denton County Animal ER at 940-271-1200. DO NOT call HSFM.

Summer Tips

Temperatures are already rising, and Texas heat can be a real danger to your pets.

  • NEVER leave an animal in a car, even for short times. Heat stroke can hit in under 10 minutes.
  • Keep pets indoors with air conditioning. If this is not possible, ensure the pet has shade and a large amount of water that cannot be overturned.
  • Keep dogs on heartworm preventative.
  • Don't let dogs ride in the back of trucks. Not only is it dangerous as they could jump out, but the heat of the metal can quickly induce heat stroke and burn paws and skin.
